Backstory: Fire Opal was a guardian for his team on home world. He battled under the rule of Red Diamond. He was a powerful warrior, but he had his doubts. Red Diamond seemed reluctant for the safety of the gems that battled under her rule. One day, Red diamond order that Fire Opal's teammates be destroyed and harvested for their failures. Only Fire Opal escaped the clutches of the Red Diamond court. His teammate however, they weren't so lucky. Fire Opal witnessed how they were harvested and felt disgust for the actions of home world form in his being. He fled to earth after hearing rumors of a group of traitors living their, protecting the planet. He tracked down the Crystal gems and befriended them. While he did not become a crystal gem, he is still friends with them, especially Steven, who fascinates Fire Opal greatly. A human-gem hybrid? That was something that interested Fire Opal greatly and he could not disown or disrespect someone who has shown kindness and compassion as greatly as Steven has. So now, Fire Opal trains only, but not too far from Beach City, as to keep Steven safe whenever the gems are in need of assistance.
